Workshops

I teach workshops on a broad range of topics in the higher education and academic realms. Some of the topics I cover in these workshops include research design, academic writing, qualitative methods, mixed methods, project management, writing for broader audiences, strategies for thesis completion, etc.

This is a sample of workshops I’ve taught for universities all over the world, both in person and online. For a number of universities, I’ve taught several iterations of each workshop (at least once a year).

2024

Developing and Sustaining Your Writing Practice (The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada – online) (1 day, 3 hours):

In this interactive, 3-hour workshop (with strategic breaks and multiple exercises built into the workflow), Dr. Pacheco-Vega will walk graduate students and postdoctoral fellows through several of his most trusted and used strategies to build confidence in your writing, craft different types of written research outputs, and manage the writing project pipeline.

Project Management for Graduate Students: Staying the Course (Rutgers University, Newark, NJ, USA – online) (2 days, 1.5 hours per day)

Current events have made us all busier than ever, and many of us are grappling with growing workloads and more demands on our time. Developing effective project and time management skills is essential to career success, whether in graduate school or in a professional work environment. On March 31 and April 1, the Graduate School will welcome Dr. Raul Pacheco-Vega to facilitate a two-day intensive workshop on project and time management for graduate students. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Pacheco-Vega is a leading voice on academic project management, scholarly writing, and coaching strategies for early career scholars via his website
